Alaska Marijuana Handler Permit Training
Accredited: Green CulturED is authorized by Alaska’s Alcohol and Marijuana Control Office (AMCO) to provide our Marijuana Handler Certification through a partnership with the Marijuana Control Board (MCB) for the state of Alaska.
All marijuana establishments and each licensee, employee or agent of the marijuana establishment who sells, cultivates, manufactures, tests, or transports marijuana or a product, or who checks the identification of a consumer or visitor, must obtain a Marijuana Handler Permit from the Alcohol and Marijuana Control Office before obtaining a license or beginning employment at an establishment.
This certification covers Alaska’s marijuana laws and all of the statewide regulations, the effects of marijuana consumption, how to identify an impaired individual, how to distinguish valid forms of government-issued identification (ID), how to intervene and prevent unlawful consumption, the penalties for any unlawful acts and other information that supports the state requirements.
There are no Alaska residency restrictions for your Marijuana Handler Permit to be issued and it is valid for three (3) years from the date of training completion. Alaskan law requires anyone working in the industry to have a Marijuana Handler Permit and you must have it before you can begin working at an establishment.
Our Marijuana Handler Certification is approved by the MCB to train you on Alaska’s laws and regulations regarding the use and sale of marijuana so you can get your Marijuana Handler Permit. It can take a few weeks for your permit to be issued, so don’t procrastinate enrolling in our Marijuana Handler Certification.
The certification is divided into four interactive video-based training, along with eBooks of those videos. To complete certification, one has to pass the assessments with a 70% pass rate. The Marijuana Handler Permit Application must be submitted to the AMCO office with a signed certificate, a 2 x 2 passport-sized photo, and a photocopy of your ID must be submitted to the enforcement wing of the MCB, who will issue the actual Handler Card to you. In addition, all applicants must undergo a criminal background check through the Alaska State Troopers.

Marijuana Handler Curriculum
Learn about the potential therapeutic uses, health risks of using cannabis, and effects caused by chemical compounds found in the plant. These different compounds in cannabis are called cannabinoids. You’ll discover how the most prevalent psychoactive cannabinoid is called Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) which has various psychological and physiological effects on the body. THC is the only cannabinoid that you know for sure has clear intoxicating effects on its own, but you will discover that other cannabinoids can influence how THC affects the body.
The goal of checking for valid Identifications (IDs) is to confirm age to prevent underage access and stop the legal, financial, and social consequences of underage consumption. This is a huge task given the large and increasing numbers of fake IDs on the market and the ease with which they can be obtained. Quality fake IDs are so like real IDs and it’s hard for those checking IDs to tell the difference if they lack training. And this becomes a big compliance problem since workers don’t know what security features to look for and feel people’s ID.
You will learn that preventing and detecting diversion within the cannabis industry is a very serious issue. The ability of a business to cultivate, produce, or sell cannabis products can only be done with strict adherence to government regulations. Without complying with cannabis diversion regulations, there’s no chance of legally running a cannabis business without the fear of a forcible shutdown looming in the distance. Another aspect of diversion is checking for valid Identifications (IDs) to confirm age and prevent underage access.
Alaska allows for recreational and medical cannabis use after it was legalized by voters that approved the Alaska Medical Marijuana Initiative so the Department of Health and Social Services could establish the Medical Marijuana Registry. Learn how cannabis is regulated from “Seed-to-Sale” so it’s legal to purchase from licensed retailers and establishments with a valid onsite consumption license. Discover how consuming cannabis in public spaces is illegal and where legal consumption may occur in private residences or licensed establishments.

One of the biggest challenges that learners face today is "accessibility" in their eLearning solutions. Our platform is American Disability Act (ADA), Accessible Canada Act, etc. compliant and why we started our "Industry Impact Program".
We are sensitive to disabilities so we provide closed-captioning (sub-titles) for hearing-impaired and screen readers for visually-impaired individuals who want to learn. We have worked extensively to MEET these "accessibility" standards.
Our platform is composed of a complex system with many parts and aspects of our development is always evolving so "accessibility" is NOT a state. It is a process of continuous improvement in response to our learners and technical environment.
